I completed Level 1 less than 90 days ago. Can I still take Level 2?
Ideally, no — the 90-day practice period allows you to integrate Level 1 deeply. However, exceptions are made for family emergencies where distance healing would be beneficial (e.g., loved one facing serious illness or surgery, or you will be traveling for an extensive period of time
I got Level 1 certified years ago but haven't practiced much. Should I take Level 2?
Consider starting with a Level 1 refresher or committing to 30 days of daily self-treatment before proceeding to Level 2. The symbols are powerful tools — you need a solid Level 1 foundation to use them effectively.
Can I learn the symbols from a book or online?
No. The symbols must be activated through initiations by a Reiki Master. Learning them intellectually without the attunements won't give you the capacity to channel through them.
I got my Level 1 from a different teacher/lineage. Can I take Level 2 here?
Yes, as long as your Level 1 is from a traditional Usui Shiki Ryoho lineage.
How is distance healing possible?
The distant symbol creates an energetic connection that transcends time, and physical space. While the mechanism isn't fully understood by Western science, practitioners and recipients consistently report feeling the connection and experiencing benefits. You'll experience it directly during training.
Can I use the symbols on myself?
Absolutely. Many Level 2 practitioners utilize the power symbol to amplify their self-treatments and the mental symbol for emotional work and habit change. Plus, the distant symbol to send healing to past traumas or prepare for future challenges.
Will I be able to charge for Reiki sessions after Level 2?
You can practice professionally after Level 2 if you choose, though most practitioners continue working with friends and family. Check local regulations — some areas have requirements for complementary health practitioners.
Is Level 2 required to become a Reiki Master?
Yes. The Master training path requires Level 1 → Level 2 → extensive practice → Master apprenticeship (2+ years). Most students don't pursue Master training unless called to teach.
